Abstract

Assimilight is an artefact which visualise live data in an abstract way. The lamp is designed to be used in exhibition spaces. By daytime the lamp functions as an ambient light source to illuminate the room.

However the lamp relives the past day and processed the happened events in the night with direct light pulses which can only be seen from outside the exhibition windows. The lamp records the sound levels by daytime in realtime and relives theses in some kind of dreams in the night.
This function cause curiosity to visit the exhibition as well as uses every visitor as an part of an abstract individual data divuslisation which can be shaped and manipulated by everyone.

The lamp is shaped so that the light source can only shine passiv to the ceiling of the room. The backside of the lamp is made of translucent Polystyrol which can not be seen by the visitors of the exhibition.
